TIL that spray foam insulation kits from the big box stores can actually work okay for small Edmonton jobs.
I always thought they were a total gimmick, but I sealed a drafty basement window frame with one last month and my heating bill dropped by about $30. What other small fixes have you guys tried that actually paid off?

Yeah those kits are surprisingly decent for sealing up rim joists too, if you can get to them. The key is to go slow and do thin layers, otherwise it doesn't cure right and stays sticky. Made a huge difference in my old place, stopped that cold floor draft completely.

Oh man, weatherstripping my attic access panel was a total game changer. I just used that cheap foam tape with the sticky back (the kind that looks like a pool noodle got flat) around the edges of the door. The difference in air movement up there was insane, and it took maybe ten minutes.
