Spent $150 on a heated hose for my garage sink and it's been a total lifesaver this winter.
I got tired of my outdoor tap freezing solid every year, so I installed a heated hose from the garage sink to a frost-free bib outside. It cost about $150 for the hose and the plug, but I haven't had a single freeze-up even during that cold snap in January. Has anyone else tried this, or did you go with a different fix like heat tape?

My neighbor went the heat tape route and his power bill spiked. The heated hose seems like a smarter one-time cost.

Wait, is a frozen hose even that big a deal?

My buddy had a cheap hose freeze solid last winter and the pressure swell blew out the brass fitting on his spigot... it was spraying water all over his foundation before he even noticed. Cost him like $300 for a plumber to come out and replace the whole thing on a Sunday. So yeah, a frozen hose can turn into a way bigger headache than just not having water for a bit.
