Picked up a used stud finder for $5 at a garage sale in St. Albert

It's a basic Zircon that beeps when it finds wood, nothing fancy. Worked fine on my basement wall to hang shelves, saved me from drilling into a pipe. Anyone else had luck with cheap finds from local sales?

Think those older Zircon models are actually pretty reliable, mine's been kicking around for years.

Right on, garage sale tools are the best, scored a level for a buck that's still dead on.

Disagree with @diana20 on this one. Most garage sale tools are junk that people are dumping because they stopped working or aren't accurate. That stud finder probably has a loose battery connection or outdated calibration, you just got lucky on that wall.
