Yep, sounds like you been slapping it on like I used to. Most people think drywall mud is just for covering screws and tape. But the real trick is using it to smooth out whole walls or even texture them. If you're just buttering it on thick and sanding like crazy, you're doing way more work than you need to. A thin, even coat with the right blade makes a huge difference. Don't even get me started on the difference between pre-mixed and powder.
