Can we talk about using vinegar instead of expensive grout sealer?
I spent $35 on a bottle of grout sealer for my bathroom tile last month. The stuff smelled like a chemical plant and only covered about 30 square feet. After 2 weeks it was already wearing off in the shower corner. My buddy from Fort McMurray told me to try white vinegar and water mix instead. I thought he was crazy but gave it a shot on a test patch. Three months later that vinegar spot still looks the same as the sealed areas. Anyone else ditch the expensive sealers for this?

Your buddy was onto something. I tried the same vinegar mix on my kitchen backsplash grout about six months back and it's held up way better than that expensive aerosol stuff I used before.

Whoa hold on. Six months? That's way longer than I'd expect from something so simple. I've only had mine for three months and I figured it'd start fading any day now. Did you use a specific ratio or just eyeball it like I did? I used like half vinegar half water and it seems to be holding strong.
