Buddy told me to seal my cedar fence planks before installing and I didn't listen
Built a new fence last spring along my back alley in Oliver. My neighbor Gary who does decks for a living said to stain and seal each plank before putting them up. I thought nah, I'll do it after, save time. Fast forward to this fall and now half the bottom edges are already turning gray where I couldn't reach after they were installed. Gary was right. Gotta redo it all next spring now. Anyone have a good sealer they like for cedar that actually lasts more than a year?

yo @hernandez.finley a full week to dry??? man i pressure washed mine and waited maybe a day cause i got impatient, that explains a lot about why my sealer flaked off in six months

Oh man, Gary knows what's up. I did the same thing with my cedar fence a couple years ago and learned the hard way too. The bottom edges are the worst cause they soak up moisture from the ground. For a sealer that actually sticks around, try a clear semi-transparent oil based one like TWP or Ready Seal. You gotta prep it good first though, maybe hit it with a pressure washer and let it dry a full week before applying.
