Warning: That "simple" bathroom reno took me 6 weeks not 2

Thought I could refresh our master bath in a weekend. Tore out the old vanity and found water damage behind it. Then the subfloor was rotten. Then the new tile I ordered was backordered 3 weeks. Ended up being without a shower for 6 weeks total. Anyone else have a contractor promise a timeline and then vanish when things go sideways?

Gotta say, idk, I feel like sometimes people blow these timelines way out of proportion. I mean, six weeks without a shower sounds tough but you could have set up a camp shower in the backyard or used a gym membership for a month. Maybe I'm just being cynical, but a lot of these reno horror stories seem to come from folks who went with the cheapest contractor they could find on Craigslist and then acted surprised when things fell apart. Plus, finding water damage is kind of a win in the long run, right? That's the kind of thing that would have turned into a much bigger problem if you just painted over it and called it a day.

Holy crap, a neighbor throwing a break party for themselves when you literally can't shower is INSANE. I would have lost my mind, I don't think I could have kept it together.
