Vent: That conversation with a drywaller near Ellerslie made me rethink my whole approach

Ran into a guy at the lumber yard yesterday, been doing drywall for 20 years. He said I'm wasting time by taping and mudding in separate passes. Said to just do it all at once and move faster. I've been doing it the slow way for 3 years now. Tried his method on a small patch job last night and it actually looked better. Now I gotta ask, has anyone else switched up their routine after talking to an older hand? Who was it and what did they tell you?

He was taking about tape and first mud go in one pass, not finishing.

Which method did he say was faster, the actual taping or the finishing coats?
