Tried sealing my own driveway with that big box store stuff. Never again.
Bought a 5 gallon bucket of that cheap sealer from Home Depot last summer. Thought I'd save $400 by doing it myself. Spent a whole Saturday on it, hands were wrecked, and by October it was peeling off in chunks. Now I gotta pay a pro to strip it all and start fresh. Anyone else have a DIY driveway job turn into a total money pit?

Man, that stinks. I feel your pain. I painted my garage door with a cheap rust converter from the hardware store and it bubbled up in the sun within a week. Had to sand the whole thing down by hand and start over with the expensive stuff. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for with that stuff.

My buddy tried the same thing last year. He bought two buckets of that black goo and spent a whole weekend slopping it on with a squeegee. Looked great for about a month until it started flaking off every time a car went over it. By spring his driveway looked like a lizard shedding its skin. He ended up paying $600 to have a crew sandblast the whole thing off.
