Talked to my plumber buddy about using sharkbite fittings on permanent work
He said he's seen four of them blow apart on hot water lines in the last six months alone, and now I'm second guessing every repair I've done with them has anyone else had a sharkbite fail on them?

My dad used sharkbite on a hose bib in his garage three years ago and it blew off last winter soaking everything. I had to cut the line and put a real threaded fitting on. I only use them now for temporary stuff like capping a line while I wait for a part. For permanent work I just sweat copper or use pro press if I have the tool. Makes me wonder how many of these are sitting behind walls waiting to let go.

Seems like everything's built to barely work these days. Makes you wonder what other shortcuts people are taking that we won't find out about until something breaks.
