Old roofer named Dave told me to always use ice and water shield on low slope roofs, but I skipped it on a shed and now I'm dealing with leaks 6 months later

I mean, Dave's been doing roofs for 30 years and he swore by it, but I figured a shed was overkill and now I'm patching it up anyway, so who else has had a contractor give you advice you ignored and regretted?

Read on a DIY site that even a small pitch difference makes water sit way longer than you'd expect. Dave knew what he was talking about.

3/4 inch per 10 feet is the standard minimum for a flat roof and even then you still get ponding in dips. I re-did my shed last summer with 1/2 inch per 10 feet and had to buy those rubber pucks to jack up the low spots. Water just finds its way. You ever tape a level across the span to check for hidden low areas?
