Noticed a huge difference in my basement flood repair after switching contractors mid-job
The first guy left my sump pump pit half dug and took off with my deposit, but the second crew had everything dry and sealed in 3 days flat, has anyone else had to fire a contractor partway through a job?

Deposit theft makes me side with the first contractor, honestly.

Right after that happened to me, I started paying half upfront and the other half when they showed up with the materials. That way nobody gets burned if things fall apart. Also snapped a quick pic of their license plate, just in case.
