Drove by that new build off 23 Ave near Ellerslie and the foundation pour looks like a total mess

I saw big cracks in the concrete already and they haven't even framed it yet, anyone else notice shoddy foundation work popping up more around Edmonton lately?

I remember when I was helping a buddy check out a new garage slab a few years back and the cracks were showing up before they even poured the walls. We spotted these big spiderweb cracks all over the surface, and the edges were already chipping off. Turns out the crew didn't let the ground settle right before pouring, so the concrete was shifting as it cured. Ended up having to rip the whole thing out and start fresh, cost a fortune in time and materials. With that foundation on 23 Ave, I'd be real concerned about them cutting corners on the gravel base or the rebar layout.

That 23 Ave slab situation reminds me of how people rush home renovations too. I walk past three new builds in my neighborhood that all had foundation cracks within the first year because the builders just wanted to get them framed and sold fast. Same thing happens with driveways and patios everywhere around here, everyone wants it done yesterday so they skip the compaction or use cheap aggregate. Then six months later you see chunks missing and water pooling where it shouldn't be.
