Worst drywall week I've had in 8 years started with a bad batch of mud
Got 40 buckets of all-purpose compound from the lumber yard last Monday and every single one had these weird tiny lumps that wouldn't break down no matter how much I mixed. Has anyone else run into a bad batch from a major supplier recently?

Heard from a few guys down at the supply house that USG had some quality issues with their mud recently, so you might be dealing with a bad run from the factory. Those tiny lumps sound like dried-out bits that got mixed in during production, and no amount of stirring is gonna fix that mess honestly. I'd take those buckets straight back to the lumber yard and tell them to swap em out, because that's on the manufacturer, not you.

Huh, you might be onto something. I was about to blame my mixing.

Dang, wait, USG is actually sending out mud with dried bits already in it? That's wild, I always figured that was just from me leaving the bucket open too long and a skin forming on top. Guess I gotta check my next batch closer before I start a job.
