The client who wanted a 'feature wall' of drywall in his garage gym

I mean, I've heard some odd requests, but this guy in Tempe, Arizona asked me to install a single sheet of drywall on his garage wall, right between his squat rack and his dumbbells. He said, and I quote, 'I need something to stare at while I'm failing my last rep, you know, for motivation.' Idk, maybe it's just me but I've never thought of drywall as a mental training tool. Has anyone else had a client ask for something that weird?

Oh man, my buddy had a client who paid him to perfectly level and paint a cinder block wall in a basement, just so he could hang a single, tiny motivational poster on it.

Sounds like that poster better say "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take" to justify the cost. Honestly though, some people just have the money to make their weird little vision real, no matter how silly it looks to the rest of us. I guess if you're paying for it, you get to be that specific. Still, painting a whole cinder block wall for one tiny thing is next level extra.

Nah, I get it completely. Tbh, if someone wants one perfect spot for something that matters to them, that's their business. It's not about the poster, it's about making the space right for it. My whole job is fixing stuff people messed up by cutting corners. Doing it right the first time, even for one thing, just makes sense. That guy knew exactly what he wanted and paid to get it. Can't hate on that.
