That time a homeowner tried to use sheetrock for a shower floor

Had a call last month from a guy in Phoenix who wanted me to drywall his whole bathroom, including the shower floor. Told him no way, but he insisted he saw it on a YouTube channel. 3 days later he called back saying the mud turned to soup and the whole thing caved in. Has anyone else had customers fight you on basic waterproofing rules?

My buddy Dan tried this exact thing in Tucson. He used that green board too thinking it was waterproof. Took four days to start bubbling and peeling. The whole floor turned into a soggy mess. Some lessons have to be learned the hard way I guess.

Four days? Dan got off easy. Tucson humidity hits different when you realize green board is basically just cardboard with a fancy hat on. You'd think he'd have checked the weather report first, @the_matthew.
