Still thinking about that Tuesday last month where everything went wrong

I had a 2,000 square foot basement to hang in Boulder and the first two sheets I cut both had bad edges from the factory. Then my screw gun jammed twice in like 10 minutes and I realized I left my spare battery in the truck. By noon I was only 3 sheets in and the homeowner comes down asking if I'm gonna finish by Friday. Has anyone else had a day where every little thing just fought you from the start?

That feeling when you're already behind and then the homeowner shows up asking about the timeline, man I've been there. Were you able to salvage the day or did you just cut your losses and start fresh the next morning? Sometimes you gotta know when to call it and come back swinging the next day.

Man I felt that one deep. Three weeks ago I had a 9am deck stain that turned into a disaster because the wood was still wet from morning dew, and the homeowner walked out at 10:30 looking all stressed. Did you have any luck just owning up to the delay and asking them to prioritize one or two things that absolutely had to get done that day? Sometimes that buys you enough goodwill to finish strong instead of packing it all in.
