Old timer told me to use mesh tape on all inside corners, turns out he was dead wrong
Took his advice on a big job last month and had to redo three corners when they cracked within a week. Went back to paper tape and they've been solid since. Anyone else have a pro tip that was total garbage?

Seriously awful advice" is putting it lightly. My buddy Rob heard the same thing about mesh tape from a guy at the hardware store. He used it on a big bathroom remodel for his sister and every single corner cracked within two weeks. She made him rip it all out and start over with paper tape. Total nightmare. He still won't go back to that hardware store.

Anna, you hit the nail on the head. That advice is about as useful as using spit to stick up crown molding. I heard the same thing from a guy who's been drywalling since the 70s and swore mesh tape on inside corners was the only way to go. Took him at his word on a closet job and every single corner was a cracked mess within a month. Now I just laugh whenever someone says that stuff is better than paper. My rule now is I trust the old timers on the beer recommendations, not the drywall tips.
