Old timer changed my mind about pre-filling screw holes yesterday

I was on a job in Akron last week and this guy Larry, maybe 60 years old, walked up and watched me mudding. He just said 'you're wasting time filling those before you tape, just mud over 'em wet.' I tried it on one wall and saved damn near 20 minutes. Has anyone else switched to mudding screws wet instead of letting them dry first?

Heard a contractor say it adds up fast across a whole house though.
