Broke a 6 foot level on a commercial job yesterday
I was hanging a long ceiling in an office building near downtown Portland and my aluminum 6 foot level slipped off a scaffold and hit the concrete floor. The vial cracked and the frame bent just enough to make it useless. I ended up having to borrow a spare from a crew down the hall to finish the row. Has anyone else had a major level fail on them mid job like that?

Actually @miles72 those Stabilia levels are actually made by Stabila, not Stabilia lol but I get what you meant. That 6 footer is rough though, aluminum frames are just asking for trouble on commercial sites. I use the fatmax ones with the rubber ends and they still crack if they hit concrete right. A buddy of mine dropped his 6ft empire off a ladder once and it bent so bad he used it to level out mud on the next job.

Man that really stinks, a 6 footer is an expensive tool to lose like that. I had a 4 foot Stabilia pop a vial when it tipped off a ladder in a garage once, and I was just sick about it. Those long levels are just too fragile for the kind of abuse we put them through on commercial sites. Did you at least try to warranty it, or was it just a total write off?
