Why I stopped running my cutterhead at full throttle all the time
For about 2 years I always ran my 12 inch dredge at max RPM because I thought that meant more production. Then I noticed my slurry density was actually dropping and I was burning through wear parts way faster. Has anyone else found a sweet spot with slower cutterhead speed for certain materials?

Wait, you ran it full throttle for TWO YEARS before noticing? That's wild. Your poor wear parts must've been screaming for mercy.

Actually rubyk86, that "full throttle" part is a bit misleading - most pumps in closed loops aren't running at max speed, they're just set to a constant pressure curve that feels like full throttle but adjusts with demand. Did you ever find out if yours was on a fixed speed or a variable setting?
