Tried the Ellicott Dredge vs. a Mud Cat for a pond job, night and day difference

Last month I had a 2 acre pond to clear out, mostly silt and some hardpan. Rented an Ellicott 370 on a buddy's recommendation. That thing chewed through the hardpan like butter, no clogging. Tried a Mud Cat 450 on a similar pond 3 years back and I was fighting the cutter head every 20 minutes. Has anyone else had that kind of experience switching between brands?

That 370 model really is a beast. I've seen guys fight with Mud Cats on hardpack and it's always the same story, constant clogs and downtime. You'd think they'd fix the cutter head design by now. So you're telling me the Ellicott just ate through the hardpan without you having to stop and clear it every few minutes? That alone makes it worth the rental price for a bigger job.

Hey @jana_fox50, am I the only one who feels like a hero just for not having to unclog that thing every five minutes?
