The day I learned suction lines hate packing tape
Had a job in Baytown last week where the crew kept tripping the sludge alarm every 20 minutes. Turns out the previous operator had wrapped a split in the suction hose with about 14 layers of packing tape, swore it was a temporary fix. Took me 45 minutes to peel it all off and slap a real repair sleeve on there, and the pump ran smooth as glass after. Anyone else ever inherited a tape job that should have been a call to the supply house instead?

...and that's exactly why I keep a roll of Gorilla tape in the truck, but only for getting the crew home at the end of the day, never for leaving on a job. I've pulled enough shredded tape out of impellers and clogged strainers to know that stuff breaks down and turns into a sticky mess the second it hits any kind of process heat. A proper repair sleeve takes 20 minutes tops if you clean the hose end right, and it'll actually last until you can order a new line. Some guys think tape is cheaper than downtime, but they forget they're paying for it twice when they have to redo it.
