Serious question, has anyone else run a dredge in that super fine silt near the mouth of the Columbia?

We were clearing a channel last month and the whole intake just kept clogging every twenty minutes, like clockwork. What's the trick for that stuff, besides constant prayer?

Yeah, we had to run a smaller mesh screen ahead of the main intake. It's a pain to clean but it catches the worst of that super fine stuff before it gums up the works. I mean, you still have to stop a lot, just maybe every hour instead of twenty minutes.

It's like putting a coffee filter in a drip machine, just a basic extra step that saves you from a bigger mess later!

Honestly used to think those extra steps were a waste of time. Seeing it catch all that fine junk and save the main system totally changed my mind. It's boring work but it really does prevent a bigger headache.
