Rant: My old cutter head was costing me a full hour of downtime every shift
I ran a 12-inch suction dredge on the Columbia for about three months with the same worn teeth. We were losing about 60 minutes a day just clearing jams and re-digging spots. Last week, the boss finally swapped in a new set of Hardox cutters, and the difference is night and day. Now we're moving material almost twice as fast with no clogging. Has anyone else seen a jump this big just from changing worn parts?

That's just basic upkeep, not some magic fix.

Honestly, it's wild how long some operations will just eat the downtime cost. We had a conveyor roller that was basically square, it would thump so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. They kept saying it was fine, but the vibration was shaking other bolts loose. Finally replaced it after a bearing seized, and the whole section just ran smoother, used less power. It's never just the one part failing, it's the ripple effect.
