Cleared a 12-inch line in one pass after a week of fighting silt

We've been on this river job near Redding for a month, and the last stretch was just packed silt that kept clogging the cutter head. Boss said we were a day behind. Yesterday, I slowed the swing way down, kept the suction pressure steady, and we pulled a full 12-inch cut without a single stop. The whole crew was quiet, just watching the monitor. It's a small thing, but after a bad week, it felt like we finally got it right. Anyone else have a trick for sticky silt that just won't break up?

What was your exact swing speed? We've tried slowing down before but it just made the slurry too thick. Did you adjust your water injection at all?

Check what temp you're running at when you slow it down.

Did you check your slurry temp when you slowed down? @the_avery, I've found a thicker slurry often means the mix is too cold, not that the speed itself is wrong. Maybe try a slower swing with a bit more heat first?
