After 6 years on the same cutterhead, I finally swapped it out yesterday
I run a 12-inch dredge up on the Snake River and that old cutterhead was so worn the teeth barely bit into the material anymore. Put a new one on with fresh carbide tips and the production jumped from about 80 yards per hour to 115 on the first pass. Has anyone else noticed a big difference after switching cutterheads on an older machine?

Definitely felt that jump man. I run a 10 inch on the Columbia and swapping out a worn cutterhead is like night and day. The old one just kinda scraped along and I thought that was normal until I put a fresh one on. My production went from around 60 yards to almost 100 after the change. The teeth actually bite into the gravel instead of just bouncing off it. It makes the whole operation feel way smoother too, less strain on the pump and everything. Honestly I should have done it a year earlier lol.

Good call changing earlier than you think you need to.
