The apology video that made me quit commenting on celeb drama

Last month I had to pick between standing up for a friend in the comments or staying quiet. I chose to defend her against some viral callout that turned out to be half true, and then the actual receipts dropped showing she was wrong about half of it too. Now both sides are mad at me and my mentions are a mess, which is wild because I only had 300 followers on that account. Has anyone else gotten burned trying to back someone in a beef before the full story came out?
