That leaked group chat screenshot had a timestamp that saved my rep

Last month I got caught in a mess where someone screenshotted a group chat and cropped it to look like I said something trashy about a creator. I was at a coffee shop in Austin when I saw the post blow up, and I almost typed out a whole apology. Then I zoomed in on the original image and saw the timestamp was from 3 days before I even joined that Discord server. I posted the full uncropped screenshot with the metadata visible and the accuser deleted their thread within 2 hours. Anyone else get burned by a cropped screenshot that turned out to be bait?

Did you keep the original file on your phone before it got posted? I always save full screenshots plus the raw file info now, that timestamp saved me when a fake edit started circling. Once I showed the real metadata and the unedited version, everyone saw the lie and the whole thing died fast.
