Showerthought: Chasing a loose toilet handle for 2 months finally clicked when I wasn't trying

I spent forever under the tank with wrenches and flashlight, tightening bolts and messing with the flapper. Nothing fixed the wobbly handle that stuck halfway. One day I was just grabbing paper towels and noticed a tiny plastic nut had backed off from inside the flush rod assembly. Two minutes with my fingers and it's been solid for a week. Has anyone else had a repair drag on forever until you stopped stressing and just stumbled on the fix?

Right? Then it turns out the whole time the universe was just waiting for you to give up so the fix could casually stroll by. My bathroom sink faucet was dripping for six months. Tried replacing every gasket under the sun, watched twenty YouTube videos, nothing worked. Gave up and just put a bowl under it. Then one night I went to tighten the handle because it was bugging me, and the whole thing twisted off in my hand. Turns out the previous owner had jammed a penny in there as a spacer. My dad still calls it my professional plumber moment.
