Why does nobody mention how expensive quality tracing paper has gotten?
I stopped by my usual art supply shop in Cincinnati last weekend to pick up some drafting paper. The roll I used to pay $18 for is now $32. I thought it was a pricing error. The guy at the counter said it's been climbing for over a year now. I ended up trying a cheaper brand and it tore on my second pass with a technical pen. Has anyone else found a decent alternative that doesn't break the bank or is this just the new normal?

Hang on, is this REALLY that big of a deal? I mean, I buy tracing paper maybe once every few years for a specific project and I just grab whatever cheap roll is at Michael's. I've never had a $14 difference ruin my whole life or anything. You said you tried a cheaper brand and it tore, but maybe that was just a bad batch, you know? I bet if you just bought the store brand stuff it would work fine for most things. It sounds like you're being a little dramatic about a few extra bucks for something you don't even buy every week.

Yeah but if you use tracing paper more than twice a year it adds up quick and cheap stuff ruins your flow.

Being a little dramatic about a few extra bucks" - nah man, when you're doing detailed drafting work, cheap paper is a nightmare and it adds up fast. I feel your pain on the pricing shock.
