Update: I was manually dimensioning everything for years before a coworker in Calgary called it a 'time sink'

He showed me how to set up a proper baseline grid and associative dimensions in AutoCAD, which cut my detail sheet time in half. Do you think full automation is always better, or is there still a case for doing some things manually to catch errors?

That "time sink" comment hits home, my old boss used to say the same thing about manual plotting.

Wait, you were manually dimensioning EVERYTHING? For YEARS? That's wild. I can't even imagine clicking on every single line, typing in each number. No wonder it was a time sink, you must have spent half your day just on that. Did you ever have to go back and change something? That sounds like a total nightmare to update.
