Supervisor's note about my dimension layers changed my whole process
My supervisor at the shop in Tulsa pulled me aside last Tuesday and pointed out that my dimension layers were all over the place, some on the title block layer and some on the object layer. He said it would be a nightmare for whoever does the revisions down the line. I spent that evening reorganizing all my templates and now every dimension goes on its own dedicated layer with a consistent color. Has anyone else had to rework their layer setup because of a similar critique, and did it stick or did you slip back to old habits?

That bit about it being "a nightmare for whoever does the revisions" hit me hard. I used to think layers were just personal preference, like which way you hang the toilet paper. Then I had to trace through someone else's messy drawing once, took me an hour just to find the dang dimensions. So yeah, I reworked mine the same way after a similar talk. It stuck because I finally saw it from the next person's view, not mine. Now when I open an old file that still has the old setup, it bugs me so much I fix it on the spot.
