Spent 4 hours fixing a dimension error that was just a layer misalignment
I was working on a set of floor plans for a 3-story apartment building near downtown Austin and the walls kept coming out 2 inches off. Turns out I had a single xref layer set to wrong color and it made my whole dimension set look like a mess. Anybody got tips for catching xref issues before you print?

Noticed you said "color" not "layer state" and honestly that's half the battle right there. Have you tried running the LAYWALK command just before you plot, it highlights isolated stuff that'll mess up your dims.

Take it easy on the LAYWALK there @amy_foster79, some of us just want to get the plot out the door without a full CAD investigation. Half the time it just flags stuff that prints fine anyway, so I'm not sure it's worth the extra step. If your dims are really that fussy, maybe just check your layers manually once and move on.

Buddy of mine spent a whole afternoon chasing dim errors on a set of plans, finally ran LAYWALK and found a stray magenta line hiding on a frozen layer that was throwing everything off. Kind of made me wonder if the extra step is worth avoiding that headache.
