Serious question about drafting software subscriptions

Last month my AutoCAD LT subscription doubled to $600 a year and I'm wondering if the extra features are worth it compared to just using DraftSight or one of those free alternatives like LibreCAD, what do you all think after actually making the switch?

Have you actually tried DraftSight yet? I made the jump last year when Autodesk pulled the same thing on me. Honestly, for basic floor plans and simple drafting it works fine, you just gotta get used to the layout difference. LibreCAD is okay for super basic stuff but it crapped out on me when I tried to do anything with layers or complex blocks. The real killer for me was losing the dynamic input features and some of the annotation tools I leaned on heavy in AutoCAD. If you're just doing 2D stuff and not dealing with crazy revisions or team collabs, DraftSight's free tier might do the job.

$600 a year is nothing if your workflow depends on those annotation tools.
