Question about a bad dimension call on a set of commercial kitchen plans
I was working on a set of drawings for a restaurant remodel in Portland last week... the architect's PDF had a callout for a 36-inch walkway between two stainless steel counters. I copied it over without a second thought. The contractor called me yesterday, said they were framing the space and it felt way too tight. We pulled the original spec sheet for the equipment, and the actual counter depth was two inches deeper than what was noted on the plans. If I hadn't caught it, they would have built a 34-inch aisle. Has anyone else had a vendor's spec sheet save them from a field error like that?

Yeah, that's why I always try to get the actual cut sheets from the manufacturer now... even if the architect's details look good. I've been burned by outdated specs on a fridge unit before, the clearance was totally wrong. It's a pain to track down, but it saves so much headache later.

So how do you even get the real sheets from them these days?
