Just realized I was over-dimensioning every drawing for 8 years

Used to add 1/4" tolerance to every critical dimension out of fear the shop would screw it up. A fabricator finally called me out on it last month, said it was causing rework because parts were coming back too loose. Now I only call out tight tolerances where it actually matters, like bolt patterns and mating surfaces. Anyone else ever get slapped down by a fabricator for being too safe on the print?
