Hot take: I spent 3 years printing drawings at 1:1 scale before someone pointed out I could just use a scale ruler

Last Tuesday a senior drafter walked by my desk, saw me hunched over a plotter feeding out a full set of floor plans, and just goes 'why are you printing that at full size when you can read it off the screen?' Felt like a total idiot lol. I had this whole system of taping prints together to check clearances and everything. Now I just zoom in on my monitor and use the measure tool. Has anyone else realized way too late that they were making the job harder for zero reason?

Honestly I feel like this is just life in general. You spend forever doing something the hard way because nobody told you there's a shortcut, then you find out and feel like you wasted years of your time. Happens with everything from cooking to driving to using software.

Disagree though... sometimes hard way teaches you stuff shortcuts skip.
