Found a weird trick for cleaning up old PDF floor plans

Last week I was working on a remodel in Phoenix and the client gave me a scanned PDF from 1998 that was basically a blurry mess. I tried the usual stuff in AutoCAD, but my buddy told me to run it through a free online tool called SmallPDF first to up the DPI. It made the lines way sharper before I even traced them, saved me like two hours of guesswork. Anyone else have a go-to method for dealing with bad scans?

My buddy had a similar problem with some faded blueprints... he just scanned them again in grayscale instead of color and it worked way better.

Grayscale scanning is a game changer for those old faded ones. I've had to do that with some supplier sketches that were barely readable.

Yeah @adam_adams, bumping the contrast after a grayscale scan saves those sketches every time.
