Chatting with a veteran at the supply house about old-school dimensioning

He was buying lead holders and mentioned he still uses a 3H for all his initial layout because it's light and easy to erase. It made me rethink my whole process of going straight to the 2H. Anyone else have a specific pencil grade they swear by for different drafting stages?

Stick with 2H for everything. That 3H life is too faint for my old eyes.

Ugh, hard agree. My last 3H just vanished on the page. Total ghost pencil.

Did you ever try sharpening your 3H with a really fine grit sandpaper? I saw this thing online about how some pencils need a specific type of sharpener to not get that weird faint line. Makes a huge difference if the tip isn't all messed up. But honestly, even then they can be hit or miss. Some brands just make their 3H way too light for regular writing, it's wild.
