Bought a $400 drafting tablet for home projects, not sure if it was worth it.
I got it to do some freelance side work, thinking it would speed up my sketching and revisions. After six months, I mostly just use it for marking up PDFs, which my old mouse could do. Do you think a dedicated tablet is a must-have tool or just a nice extra?

I mean, my friend who does digital art full time swears by her tablet, but she uses it for hours every day. For just marking up PDFs, maybe it's overkill.

Honestly, this feels like a classic case of buying the gear for the life you want, not the one you have. Like @miam75 said, it makes total sense for a pro artist but is overkill for light use. I see it all the time with people buying super fancy gym gear or kitchen stuff that just gathers dust. The tool only really pays off if your actual daily work needs it.
