My buddy Jake moved into a new apartment complex in Austin last year. Every unit had the same three white floating shelves above the TV. It was like a weird rule in the lease.

That "weird rule in the lease" thing @mitchell.val said is killing me lol. I'm just as bad though, I put up those same shelves in my last place and felt so original. Now I'm realizing my whole personality was just a bulk buy from the home store.

Oh my gosh YES. It's like they all get the same starter pack. Those shelves, that one fiddle leaf fig plant that's always half dead, the same fake sheepskin rug thrown over a chair. What else is secretly in every single apartment these days? I bet everyone has that exact same round wooden mirror from Target too.
