Unpopular opinion: I hit 500 linear feet of trim painted and it made me HATE the 'one coat' promise

Just finished a full house trim job in my 1920s bungalow and that number showed me how much time I wasted trusting the can. The second coat on every single piece was non-negotiable for a clean finish. Anyone else find that 'one coat' paint is a total lie for real woodwork?

You said you painted 500 linear feet of trim. That number alone makes my back hurt just thinking about it. I can't believe you did all that work only to find the paint needed a second coat anyway. It's shocking how much extra time that must have added. The promise on the can feels like a real trick for big jobs. I've had the same letdown, and it turns a weekend project into a whole week.

Yeah, that "one coat" promise is a trap, so I always test a small spot first.

Oh my gosh, 500 feet of trim is crazy! I would have been so mad, @sarah829. That "one coat" lie is the worst when you're already doing a huge job. It totally steals your whole weekend and then some. I've learned the hard way to never trust the can either.
