TIL those cheap plastic putty knives are actually useful for something

I always used metal ones for drywall mud because the plastic ones felt flimsy. But last week I was patching a hole in my laundry room and the metal knife kept leaving lines. Grabbed a 4 inch plastic one from the dollar bin and it smoothed out way better on the final coat. Am I the only one who slept on these things?

Aren't plastic ones way too soft for getting a good crisp edge on the corners though?
