The weekend my garage ceiling nearly caved in from old insulation
I was up in the attic running some new wiring for a light fixture last Saturday, and I stepped wrong onto a old fiberglass batt. The whole section gave way and dumped 15 years of dust and mouse droppings right onto my workbench below. Took me 4 hours with a shop vac and respirator to clean it up. Has anyone else had a hidden attic hazard pop up out of nowhere like that?

Did you at least get a free blacklight party out of it with all that mouse droppings glowing? I had the same thing happen but with a pack of ancient mothballs that crumbled to dust. My wife thought I was brewing some kind of toxic perfume in the garage, the smell was that strong. Funny how those hidden attic time bombs just wait for you to step wrong.

@karen_west59 nailed it with the blacklight party comment. My garage looked like a crime scene for a solid week after that insulation dropped. Took me three pass-throughs with the shop vac before I stopped coughing up dust every time I walked by. The worst part was finding out the mice had been nesting right above my tool chest for god knows how long. At least you got mothballs, I got decades of rodent souvenirs and a new respect for wearing a hard hat in my own attic.
