The 3/4 inch plywood I bought was actually 5/8, blew my mind

Went to Home Depot in Aurora last weekend for a shelving project and measured the plywood before cutting. Turns out that so-called 3/4 inch board is really 23/32 of an inch, which is basically 5/8 plus a hair. I've been building stuff for 6 years and never checked, my shelf brackets have been sitting loose this whole time. Anyone else find their tape measure lying to them on stock lumber sizes?
