That $35 paint sprayer from the discount store made me strip a whole closet

Thought I was slick grabbing a cheap HVLP sprayer to do the trim in my hallway closet. First pass it spit paint like a clogged milkshake straw. Second pass it blew the hose right off the fitting. Ended up peeling everything off and brushing by hand. Who else has been burned by bargain sprayers that claim furniture-grade finish? What's the cheapest one that actually works for small jobs?
