Talking to my contractor neighbor made me question if I'm overengineering my fence build

He said he just uses 4x4s and some quikrete for everything, while I've been digging 3 foot holes and using gravel bases, so which approach actually holds up better over 10 years?

Is a fence really that deep of an engineering problem lol? Unless you're building it on a cliff or something I bet your neighbor's basic setup will hold up just fine for a decade.

I mean, is your neighbor's fence falling down every year or something? Probably not. Sometimes people overthink this stuff way too much.
