Shoutout to the guy at the hardware store who talked me into a $30 paint sprayer
I was fixing up a fence and thought a brush would be fine, but he said it would take all weekend. I tried the sprayer and finished in about 3 hours with a way smoother coat. Anyone have tips for cleaning one of these things without making a huge mess?

What's the best way to clean the sprayer right after you use it? I read that you should run some water or thinner through it right away before the paint dries inside. If it's water based paint, just use warm water. For oil based, you need the right thinner. Doing it fast saves you from a clogged up sprayer later.

Honestly, is it that big a deal if you wait a little bit? I've left mine for a couple hours before cleaning it when I got busy with something else. Just ran some water through it and it was fine. Feels like people make it sound like the paint turns to cement in five minutes. As long as you get to it the same day, you're probably okay.

That guy deserves a medal. Meanwhile I'm over here cleaning mine like it's a bomb about to go off.
