Pro tip: My 'quick' bathroom grout refresh with a $15 pen turned into a full redo

I tried that grout paint pen on a small section, but it looked so good it made the rest of the old grout look terrible, forcing me to redo the whole shower. Has anyone found a good way to match new grout to old without this happening?

Try a color match kit first, max_ross was right about nothing being quick.

This 'quick refresh' is never quick" - you said it, @max_ross! I read somewhere that you can carefully sand the old grout a bit and use a sealer to help blend, but honestly it never matches perfectly. I feel your pain on the full redo though.
